IT’S GOOD TO BE QUEEN

Just ask them.

royal_queen
Well, this Royal looks happy.
latifah8  This queen looks very happy.
queen_band1231249699 And they look………..well………….uh……….smug.  And that’s a special kind of happy.

Now that I’m the self-appointed Queen of All Things, I can tell you that it IS good to be Queen.  I’m sure you all agree that I’m totally deserving after my brilliant first official royal act:   Ridding the world of that villain, February.  All hail Her Royal Highness, SMB!

February is history, so that got me thinking.  Daylight Savings Time is right around the corner.  I’m OK with that.  It’s the “springing forward” that I don’t like.  “Falling back” and gaining an hour,  I’m all over that.  Losing an hour?  Not so much.

So here’s my plan.  We will skip the whole “spring forward” thing.  We will “fall back” on schedule in the fall as usual.  And then once every 24 years, we’ll just spring ahead a whole day and we won’t even miss it.

I know.  Sometimes I even amaze myself.

What else can we do to change the world into a kinder, gentler place for all?

Hugs,
Smart Mouth Broad

I lived in Arizona for so many years where they don't do any daylight savings at all. It's such a bunch of baloney anyway.

You have the coolest ideas SMB.

I can quote any Friends episode.

"Who make HER Queen for the day."

Phoebe (smiling): I'd LOVE that job.

i thinks me likes it...

Who could possibly argue with that logic? We'll do the 12 years of having day be night and all. It'll be fun!!!

BTW, does your being Queen extend into my world here in the Northeast? I wanna be Queen, too!!!

You're utterly amazing. Brilliant. I likey this idea! :-)

With a title like "It's Good to Be Queen" I thought sure you were calling my name! I's the queen around these parts! But okay, so I'm with you, Queen La Smart Mouth. No more springing forward or falling back. Can I take that lost day in cash?

Sounds great, SMB. (Good to see you on the internets)xo

I think that's completely brilliant! Let's do it!

Brilliant! Now if you will deem Monday part of the weekend I think we'll be all good:)

actually sounds like a pretty good idea. at this point i'm willing to lose an hour of sleep so it will still be light when i get home from work.

You can move FL closer to TX. Close in that pesky gap of useless water and maybe TX and FL could meet in the middle. Is that too much to ask a Queen such as yourself?

While we're all just falling back an hour every year and springing forward one day every 24, do you think you could arrange for my youngest to age from 15 to 25 over the next few months?

Thanks ever so much.

Sorry, not with you there. We don't call it Daylight Savings Time here, which I admit is a bit silly... It's British Summer Time (as opposed to Greenwich Mean Time), and I rejoice every spring when we move our clocks forward.

If you ask me we should be on BST all winter long. I'd be willing to consider double BST in the summer.

Except in about 8 years we'll be having dinner for breakfast and breakfast for....something; now I'm all confused.
Clearly, I cannot be Queen.

Daylight savings time was a government plot to shut down drive in theaters.

LOL! You KILL me, your Highness. Brilliant idea!

Oooooo that's brilliant! Love that idea. Just wait and every 24 years we skip ahead a day. yay!!

Personally I think they should get rid of the whole thing, but can you imagine the logistics involved?? Sheesh.

I hate the losing an hour thing. But I do love the extra daylight at the end of the day. :)

Got to admit Maureen has a good point.
When you retire, time change means nothing. We get up when we are ready and sleep when we are tired.Whether the shades are drawn or open makes little difference.

Perfect idea. I hate springing ahead. Never ready - never much spring in my step.

Sounds like a plan to me, Your Majesty. Where do I sign up?

(Duchess, didn't they try hanging on to BST (changing its name to British Standard Time) a few decades ago and had to abandon it because kids were getting killed on the way to school in the dark, or some such minor side effect?)

I like the way you think! I'd be all over gaining an hour every year and never losing one, then just bypassing an entire day later. Genius! :)

Oh my gosh...I haven't been here in a while (sorry) but what's going on over here at Smart Mouth Broad Land anyway? You have become some kind of new ruling Queen or sumpin? I wondered why February seemed to squeak by so quickly...that was you? By the love of...well I nevva! Unbelievable! This changes everything....how the heck do I bow to you on a blog? Shouldn't someone else be writing for you? You still write your own blog? I would think that beneath you now. These are all important questions that your loyal subjects need answering....well maybe just THIS loyal subject! ~..~

If we are going to talk about queens, I must tell a quick story. Some years ago when I first started working w/Devoted Spouse, we all had offices that had the type of name plates on the wall next to your door with the plastic letters you could put up. Most of these people were software developers and engineers and they all had their names and then these initials after their names designating what certification they had, etc. (big snob toads). Well one day I got into one of my moods and I changed my sign to read: my name, and then after that I put the letters QOE. One man kept walking by and looking at my name sign but wouldn't say anything. Finally he approached me and said, I am an affiliate of blah, blah, blah, and I am not familiar with that designation - what is it? I told him some ridiculous story about it being a fancy new software guru designation but honestly all it meant was Queen of Everything. I laughed for months at that. Stupid man. Springing forward now...

I don't mind the time change at all. I actually like the spring ahead one better.

Did I mention that Queen is one of my all time favorite bands?

Thanks for that - if you could just fix it for me to win the lottery next please....

Why not just change it 1/2 hour and leave it the heck alone! This moving back and forth and hour is stupid to say the least. Come on your HIghness.....fix this thing!

Just checking in on you! I watch the View in the morning and Whoopie Goldberg says she is refusing to "spring" anywhere and isn't going to change her clocks! Anymore! Ever! :) Can't say as I blame her. I woke up this morning and expounded on the stupidness of the entire thing. Is it about ...control?? Hmmmm?
