The title of this post is really more a reminder for me than an indication of what you might find here. I’m having a hard time staying on task today. I had planned some sort of fun fashion post. It was my lame attempt to have a weekly feature. You know something like fashion seen thru the eyes of the unfashionable. How sad is it that I can’t even stick with the plan on week #2. *sigh*
I tried. I really did. But every time I sat down to put my scattered thoughts into words on paper screen, I would lose my focus. Allow me to demonstrate my thought processes:
I sit down on the sofa, laptop in lap, fingers at the ready. Then I decide that I might as well put on the Food Network and see if I can get any meal ideas for the coming week. Now, back to the brilliant post that I’m about to create……….but wait! What was that Rachael Ray just did with salami, prosciutto and a breadstick? Hmm, that looks tasty and fun. Let me back that up on the dvr so I can see what that cheesy stuff was in the middle. Now where was I?
With my attention on the topic at hand, I’ve completely missed the cheesy portion again and have to back up the dvr once more. This reminds me that there are programs that I need to be sure to record. I go to the menu on the dvr and select my new favorites that I will never find the time to watch. Now where was I? Oh yes, the fun fashion post. And just as I’m about to write my first word, MHS comes in and asks me to put another book on his ipod. I am nothing if not a people pleaser and I do this at once. Once my itunes is open, I start taking inventory of all the books that are there that I haven’t listened to yet. Then I think this might be a good time to put the six books that I just got from the library in my itunes. Surely I can accomplish that and write the post too.
While perusing the itunes, I see that it might be easier if I get my reading glasses. The problem is that I am already wearing my glasses for watching tv, driving, anything I want to see more than 10 feet away. What’s a girl to do? My solution?
Let’s be kind and try not to notice that this photograph was taken without the benefit of makeup or even a hairbrush for that matter.
Now where was I?
Hugs,

That should put everything back in FOCUS for you!
LOL, does that actually work? You are cracking me up over here!
My mind wanders all over the place too. I walk back and forth, zigging and zagging from this to that and nothing ever gets done because I'm so haphazard about everything.
Oh Gawd. Exactly how my brain works every day of the year. Must be menopause. I'm surprised I get anything done at all. Now where did I set my cupcake down at? *squish*
Di
I'm with Di - welcome to the wonderful world of menopause. *sigh*
I always find that my house is never cleaner than when I try to write something. It's the nature of the beast.
I think my favorite days are where I don't give a rip if I finish what I start and I meander from one activity to another.
This is only pleasant if I am home alone... no expectations that way.
You are not alone. I always operate this way. I drive my assistants crazy at work, since I have all my lesson plans in my head, and literally wing it on many occasions.
Also, your photo cracked me up. Get some progressives. I got mine last spring and will never go back.
xo
We are SOOOOOOO much alike it's scary. *sigh*
haha....my word verification is "recal" Now exactly recall but I get the message.
HA HA! I totally do that with my eyeglasses. I can see clearly in a square area that ranges from two feet away to about ten feet. After that I need glasses for close or glasses for far away.
If only my glasses could keep my thoughts focused. You too?
I was really interested in what Rachel Ray did with the salami? hahahaha!
Oh my gosh; I do that with my reading and sunglasses! Too funny.
LOL! I have done the sunglasses & readers look. Yea, I'm classy like that.
ROFL at the picture - love it! My dr suggested progressives, I'm hesitant because then I'll feel old (no offense Erin! LOL). I'm the same way, I swear I have ADD. Can't concentrate on a damn thing. Then I'll get hyperfocused on something (usually cleaning, which makes the boy nuts).
Dear lord, this sounds like the story of my life. Menopause? Age? Who knows but it's nice to know I'm not the only one...lol! Now what was Rachel doing with that salami? Have a good weekend!
I often find myself on an inner tube with reading glasses and sunglasses as cover. That isn't so bad, but what is bad is getting out the phone book and putting your 175 glasses on and hunting around the house for another 100 or 125. Add that t0 the one on your head - Bingo - get to see the number in the phonebook. Pathetic.
what's wrong with bi-focals? works for me
Ha, ha... Always a post that brings a smile on my face, even if I am not in the mood to be really smiling! It's as if I am sitting next to you and see you hesitating between laptop dealing and watching TV. Have a great weekend! The clogs under the bench are only symbolic and not used.
Wow, that sounds just like my focus when I need to do house work.
As for glasses, cool idea. I tend to use one "Walmart special" strength for reading, another for the computer and another for TV. Then I have my Sundy go to meeting ones with all three strengths. Ah, the eyes are the first to go.
You are just awesome!
But you DID do a piece on fashion - look at those glasses and tell me they aren't the height of cool!! I have issues when I sit down to write, too, and now that I've started yet another blog (insert visual of me slapping myself silly) for my creative writing, it's even harder than usual to concentrate. So many distractions, so little time.
ah yes, the continued quest for focus balance and discovery.. yet i digress :)
gp
...and the glasses are so fashionable! Yep, one word for you; bifocals. HaHa, I am about that focused right now myself. I truly can relate.
You're crackin' me up, but mostly because it reminds me of ME. Is this part of midlife, this wandering of the brain, this all over the place "what I need to do" and getting distracted in the middle of one thing to start doing another thing?? And then forget what we were originally doing? If this is midlife, I'm not likin' this part. >:-\
You've been spying on me, haven't you? Sounds just like my morning!!!
