Thanks to my boss, Daughter #1 and I had VIP passes to the Brad Paisley concert last night. As if that wasn’t thrilling enough, Dierks Bentley was a special guest and the concert opener was Jimmy Wayne. Can I get a big YEEHAW!
I’m not usually crazy about going to concerts. I’m not phobic or anything but I don’t really care for large crowds. This may or may not have something to do with being married to My Harley Stud who doesn’t tolerate large crowds, waiting in lines or invasion of personal space well. In other words, he can be a JackAss, God bless his little heart.
It quickly became very clear to D1 that I’m not familiar with the whole concert process as I gushed, “Oooooh, they tailgate at concerts just like football games.” as we walked thru the parking lot. She gave me the classic, “Duh, Mom, don’t you know anything?” look. We stopped at a concession stand to buy a beer and I was shocked to find that a beer was $10.00. A.SINGLE.GLASS.OF.BEER! And yet…..so many appeared to be already drunk. Who says the economy is hurting? But I guess that could have been a result of the tailgating, huh? Yeah, I’m a bit slow sometimes.
Once inside, we discovered that our box seats were excellent. We had our own waitress so we didn’t have to wait in any more concession lines. By mere coincidence, her first name was Smart Mouth too. She had no problem remembering my name however seemed to have trouble remembering our order. *sigh* Outside of that the concert was great. We didn’t have to stand up even once to be able to see. And the VIP bathrooms…….Let me tell you: Barely a line, clean, no one throwing up and some high class conversation that went something like this:
Woman in stall next to mine on her cell phone – Hi. I’m just calling to get the score. No, I’m at a concert. I can’t talk right now. I just wanted to get the score. OK, I’ll call you later.
Same woman talking to friend while washing her hands – Yeah, I just called home to get the score. I just love that Tim Tebow. Not just because he’s a good quarterback but because he’s a Christian and a really good guy. That’s “effin” important to me. (only she didn’t say “effin” if you get my drift) Gotta love a Gator fan. Oops! Did I say that out loud?
So anyway, D1 and I have decided that there’s no going back. Nothing less than VIP will ever do from now on. Don’t ask me how either one of us would come up with the $250 plus per ticket but let me tell you, it’s the only way to go.
Jimmy Wayne was great. I had never heard of him before last night but I have heard his songs on the radio and like them well enough to know the words to sing along. He was a great entertainer and really knew how to work the crowd.
And then there was Dierks. What can I say? The man has has blue eyes that just might be the cause of global warming. *sigh*
And Brad? Well, Brad Paisley is my all time country favorite. I love that he is a great musician as well as a fabulous singer/songwriter. He is talent personified, I don’t care what you say. And he has a sense of humor that comes through in so many of his songs. What can I say? I just love me some Brad Paisley.
Dierks melting hearts all across Palm Beach County Brad. *sigh* Can you believe these seats? (At the end of the night he put that hat on a little boy in the crowd and walked off stage. Awww)
I wanted to link my favorite Brad Paisley video but NO CAN DO says YouTube. Instead, You can click here to watch it on YouTube. The lyrics are printed below. Living with a house full of girls, it is the story of MHS’s life. Enjoy….
"Waitin' On A Woman"
Sittin' on a bench at West Town Mall
He sat down in his overalls and asked me
You waitin' on a woman
I nodded yeah and said how 'bout you
He said son since nineteen fifty-two I've been
Waitin' on a woman
When I picked her up for our first date
I told her I'd be there at eight
And she came down the stairs at eight-thirty
She said I'm sorry that I took so long
Didn't like a thing that I tried on
But let me tell you son she sure looked pretty
Yeah she'll take her time but I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman
He said the wedding took a year to plan
You talk about an anxious man, I was nervous
Waitin' on a woman
And then he nudged my arm like old men do
And said, I'll say this about the honeymoon, it was worth it
Waitin' on a woman
And I don't guess we've been anywhere
She hasn't made us late I swear
Sometimes she does it just 'cause she can do it
Boy it's just a fact of life
It'll be the same with your young wife
Might as well go on and get used to it
She'll take her time 'cause you don't mind
Waitin' on a woman
I've read somewhere statistics show
The man's always the first to go
And that makes sense 'cause I know she won't be ready
So when it finally comes my time
And I get to the other side
I'll find myself a bench, if they've got any
I hope she takes her time, 'cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman
Honey, take your time, cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

I think that me and Your Harley Stud may be the soulmates!!! LMAO!!! He sounds exactly like me! Will he drive 40 miles out of his way to avoid traffic also?
Wow, how fun was that?
I have been to a lot of concerts, but always hated the crowds and the lines, etc. Apparently VIP is the way to go, eh?
xo
I could dirty things to Dierks. Dirty, dirty, dirty.
Oh no. Now you're one of "those" kind. Too high class for me....and why wasn't I invited??? Some friend you are!!@!!!
For some reason, I envisioned that the box seats would be way up high like they are in sports venues (although I didn't even know until this post that there were VIP concert tickets-lol). But, your pictures look really close to the stage.
You are one lucky family!
like airline travel.. first class is the way 2 go.
rock on
gp in montana
I didn't know people tailgated at concerts. And I didn't know that VIP was an option. Sounds like you guys had a great time! I do love Brad Paisley.
BTW, my sister is a die-hard Gator fan. It has been the source of many heated arguments in our family. :)
Nope, sorry....all those things don't make Mr Harley Stud (or Otin!) a jackass....they make him a normal person, in my book....:)))
YEEHAW !
Oops...pardon the drool.
I saw Brooks and Dunn Saturday night- your guys are def. cuter!
Oh yeah, VIP is surely the way to go to these overcrowded events. Thanks for telling me about this. I'm sure I could never find the money, but I'm glad ya'll had a great time.
YeeHaw!
I've never been to a big stadium concert like that. As for the VIP - once you ride at teh front of the bus it's the only way to go! LOL
What a lovely post! I am a country girl, too--I love country music, much to the chagrin of my, er, kids. Who, I'm sure must secretly still like it. (heh)
I enjoyed reading your post this morning--you made me laugh. (grin)
SQUEEEEE! Girl you had some serious seats!! I haven't been to a concert in years for pretty much the same reasons as your HS. My ELPH too. But if we could get seats like that! I'd be all over it and I think ELPH would enjoy it too.
Fantastic lyrics - lucky ol' you :)
Linda and I aren't "big crowd" people but have been to a few concerts. The last one we went to was in Columbus,Ohio at Polaris. Hugh parking lot so being really intelligent we parked by a big blow up balloon of some kind. Well when the concert was over the balloon was gone. Took a long time to find the car. Going to be in Ft. Myers Fl. next week
My stupid internet has gone out twice right when I tried to post a comment here SMB. So instead of me gushing over the hot country singers, or flashing my green eyed jealousy at the VIP seats, or marveling at the sweetness of Andy in that video, I am shaking my fist at the internet devils who are messing with me.
In all my blogging time I never thought that I would see the day when Braja would call me normal! haha!
WOW, you had awesome seats for an awesome concert!!
My hubby can be a Jackass too!!! But he is a good guy!
Great post and awesome photo's!!
You Lucky Sh*t..LOL I love all three of them and would have jumped at the chance too. Awesome and congratulations :-) what views you had.
Beloved must be a JackAss, too - he won't even go to the movies, he hates crowds that much. Well, that and he can rarely watch a movie without falling asleep and the other movie goers tend to object to someone who snores like a chainsaw with a bad carburetor.
Who's Tim Elbow?
Oh my....your harley stud sounds just like my hubby too....all of it! Especially the personal space...well...unless you're a perty girl or sumpin. Yah...hate that. Ok...I did not know who any of these guys were but recognized the face of the you tube guy...how stupid do I sound? Tell your daughter you're not THAT bad...you know someone much worse! Could it be because I am not into country? I actually like some of the music though and am learning from my niece who loves it and lives in Ft. Lauderdale and my brother who is in Nashville....ah....the country capitol...hello! Looks like you had a lot of fun. How cool that your daughter thought of taking you...I love that!
i just found out who brad paisley was. i was skyping with fidgeting gidget when she mentioned Brad Paisley. When I asked her who he was she almost freaked out on me.
Turns out he's pretty big time.
My husband had a job for a while that got us the box for FREE for any concert or show....
Oh I miss that job!! It rocked literally. We saw all the major acts like U2.
I always pass on luke warm $10 beer!!
Great seats? I'll say. Sounds like fun.
And you changed your header picture. I don't think I'm walking into the ocean anymore.
It sure sounds like you had a great time and great seats. I love Brad Paisley! Great pictures and great post!
VIP seats. *sigh* It's definitely the way to go at a concert. Once I sat in the balcony at House of Blues in Cleveland, an all pass floor ticket just would not do. I hated it and left early.
Oh, and first class on the plane too. Totally spoils you - you think coach is bad BEFORE you know what first class is like? Well, it's at the point that I almost prefer to drive instead of fly in coach. Ugh.
omg!! i love dierks and his band....they're awesome!!!
this is my fave......
