LONGING FOR A WHITE CHRISTMAS

It’s no secret that every time we go back to Indiana for a visit, both MHS and I can’t help but entertain the idea of moving back.  We generally go back in the fall before the wicked, evil below zero temps set in.  Cool crisp fall days.  Really, there’s nothing better.  Football should be enjoyed with a nip in the air.  Morning coffee just tastes better when your toes are cold.  Scarves.  Boots.  Nuff said.
Knowing that I have the occasional longing for a life that includes more seasons than summer and well….almost but not quite summer, friends from Indiana like to tease me when the flurries arrive.
Today on my way to work, I received this in a text message from Beauty with the caption, “Don’t you miss this?”

Indiana December
About an hour later, I received another picture from The Saint and The Biker Nazi’s #1 Son.
from Kale
Between you and me, I do miss it.  Those first few snow flakes always set my heart aflutter.  The promise of a snow day teasing me with ideas of reading a good book under a handmade afghan on the sofa.  The luxury of an unplanned break from work or school.  Yeah, I miss it.  I do.
So I responded to my friends taunting.  After all, they should have the pleasure of knowing that they did it.  They got to me this time.
My response:

Very cute post. I like snow for about ten minutes-- until it's time to shovel it :-)

Yeah, I'll take the ride to the beach, please. Just can't do the snow anymore. Fun to shovel once or twice, but then, the fourth and fifth remind me there will be a 134th and 145th. Hey, SMB, lets go to the beach tomorrow/ We can have a picnic.

We had snow over the week-end but by the next day it was pretty much gone. It's really not much of a problem here in our neck of the woods, but up north it sticks around forever as do the extreme cold temps. Not so BOOYAH here in Virginia. LOL

I love a good snow storm, especially when you are prepared for it and do not have to venture out. I don't get that here.

We got our first snow the other night. (BTW, I'll be needing your cellphone # for future documentation.)

I'm over snow (already), but I love a damn snow day. It's why I went into teaching...

Got to admit as a former Florida girl that snow brings out the 6 year old in me. I am out walking in it while the locals are bundled up with that "good book". However where I am, snow is maybe a once a year event though cold is a constant so those palms looked pretty good.

I love a beautiful snowfall but prefer a day at the beach! Cute post.

The thermometer was hovering at 25 degrees this morning, so go ahead - rub it in.

*sigh*

My word verification is "forkweed". *snort*

I love snow and cold weather which is why I couldn't live full time in FL. I've got it!! We should swap houses every year for a week or so and we could each experience a little sun....and a little snow.

btw, should you be driving and taking pictures at the same time? I mean....who DOES that??? *wink*

Yeah, I like the snow and being inside on cold nights, all cozy and warm. But by about February, I'll be landing on your doorstep (that's okay, right?)!

I'll take snow for about one day and then I'll be back to look at your pic!

We were told we was going to get some snow, but again it missed us. I haven't seen the stuff in years.

It's the shoveling that gets to me! Other than that, I love winter - but - - - I could sure go for those plam trees!

I want sunny and warm on the 24th, deep snow on the 25th and back to sunny and warm on 26th - too much to ask?

When we lived in Indonesia, there were no seasons only two monsoons: the wet monsoon and the dry one. It was boring. I also like a great nippy day, staying at home with some candles a warm radiator and a cup of coffee, while reading a book. Have a great week, where ever you are!! Hugs!

I want your winter - here it's cold and windy and we had sleet yesterday - Blechhh. I need a palm tree in my life and some sun and sand and oh I'm depressing myself even more! Love your header pic - it reminds me of my White House ornaments. Oh yeah, guess I better finish that tree, huh? Thx for visiting my bloggy friend Doggonedmysteries - your comment was hilarious! Hugs!

LOL, SM with smart camera and smart comebacks!

I love snow too, but then, we only get enough to make everything beautiful.

I think what I would like about Florida is that the weather is similar to Hawaii (as your beautiful photo indicates), but in Florida you can get in a car and go someplace else.

We have snow on the mountain tops surrounding the little valley where I live, but it has only made it down to the valley floor once in the 16 years I've lived here. We all went wild and crazy like kids. I would not like the kind that falls in Indiana though.

OMG! I love it! Never thought of a response like that when my friend and my brother and H's family send us pictures of the beauty of the snow...still...and even so...I probably will always miss the snow. But we won't go back! Just for a visit...in the summer. If I want snow..I'll drive to the mountains just an hour away...or..to the beach..an hour in the opposite direction.
Or..I could just walk outside and look at the mountains in the distance. Good enough! :)

Glad you like that dish tree! :)
Hugs..

Okay, you win! As someone that has only known "this", I am jealous of you. How could anyone be jealous of -13 and that's without wind chill? No one is. That's what I thought...oh well.
