SUM, SUM SUMMERTIME?

summertime

Too much to do. Too much to do! What ever happened to the lazy, hazy days of summer? I may have mentioned this before but there’s a line in a Martina McBride song that says, “Every morning when I drink my coffee, I can’t believe my life has turned out this way.” I can relate.

I know that I’m blessed and there are so many that are so much less fortunate than I am but how the hell did I get to this place where every single second of my life is spoken for and even then I need extra days in the week just to catch up? I shouldn’t even be here.

Pleeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz, tell me I’m not alone. And better yet……got a solution?

Hugs,

I will be right there with you... in August.

Hang in there, SMB. The only solution I have is... going into teaching so you have summers off? Then you could tear your hair out w/ the rest of us in the fall.

I feel like this and I have seven weeks off. Between house projects, appointments, making a little bit of friends and fun time, not to mention blogging, I wonder how I ever work...

I've got 18 days left until I go back to work.

I used to feel that way. Then Katrina hit and everything stopped. Seriously. The world stopped spinning. Gives you a good dose of what's important in life and you find the strength to say, "I need some me time."

It's just life as we know it as an adult. The good news is.....you'll survive. The even better news is....it could always be worse and you could have nothing to do and no one to do it with/for. The bad news is.....well, it's just life and we're all in this same boat so let's just keep on rowing, o.k.? MUAH and HUGS to you, my stressed out friend.

Any day is a good day when you wake up to find yourself on this side of the dirt.

I remember wishing I could put my foot down and stop or slow down the merry go round of life. Then 9/11 happened and everyone stopped.

I've had those stopping moments before - when my dad died and later when my brother died. Those are the times when you reevaluate what is important.

Why does it take a tragedy to slow us down?

I'm guilty of piling way too many things on the To Do list. But at least life is great and my moments are full.

I'm rowing in that boat with you and MLS. In circles.

If I could fix it, I'd tell you, I really, really would.

I've come to realize it's just part of the ebb and flow of life.

Got room in that boat for one more?

And then when you have a few moments, you don't know quite how to spend it?

Here's a suggestion: Pour a drink and write down on a piece of paper everything you have done the past few days. Then cross out what was absolutely not necessary. Have another drink. Then....

Movie-Damn, I knew that I should have gone to college instead of getting married at 12.

Pseudo-Only 18 days! Wow, it's flyin!

Aleta-Please to make your acquaintance! Yes, me time is what I need. Thanks for visiting and I do hope you'll come again.

MLS-This side of the dirt? Yes, that's good. Do we have to row? Couldn't we get one of those fancy speed boats? I like to ski. And we could get those fun tubes. Geesh, I feel better already.

Beth-9/11 did put things into perspective. I sure don't need another crisis tho. But I did have a much better grip on my reality after going thru my mother's death. I'd better get my act together quick because I'd rather avoid the tragedy if at all possible.

Jan-See above-We're going skiing. Got a life-jacket?

PT-You're right, of course. *sigh*

Linda-Of course, dear. Bring your kayak and you can teach me. I always wanted to learn. Do they come with engines?

Dar-I'm looking forward to it.

My dear... you really need to take a look at the grand scope of things, revamp, and make time for yourself.

Everyone might be onto something. We need a job that gives us summers off - better yet, a job that gives us EVERY season off - I can totally catch up on stuff then!

I have a solution - in fact I have several. Solution Number One: Tell whomever to bite you. Solution Number Two: Practice saying these words in front of a mirror - you must also practice your serious but slightly sad face: "I'm sorry, I just can't". Say it again. "I'm sorry, I just can't". Works every time. Solution No. Three - Ahh the heck with it...let's run away and drink to excess... MUAH!

Sweetie..you are NOT alone. I hear from my hard working sons and daughters all the time. Especially the daughters. Nope..not alone at all! One day...you will be retired ...yes, I know, blah blah blah, but..it will happen. Please be happy you and MHS are healthy and happy. Ok? And this too shall pass... :) I swear it will! I am living proof that it does...

You are definitely not alone! I love Martina, and so relate to that line. My life sucks! Whoever thought everything would be so boring and I would have to work in a boring stupid job forever?

I got nothing. No advice and no spare time. In fact, I gotta run now cuz my cat wants her face scratched, and even she demands my time. Oh but for a spare few hours in the day -- to watch Pseudo"s sunsets. :)

“So much to do so little time!! I’m late, I’m Late for a very important date. No time to say Hello, Good bye, I’m Late, I’m Late, I’m late!“ : a, maybe not real accurate quote from Alice in Wonderland. We/I place so much on my table, I don’t know what to do first… Time Flies by To fast, I forget to breathe. Have you ever been rushing around doing this, doing that, only to realize you’re holding your breath? Slow it down, Breath, prioritize, (yes make time for the all important you).
Just today I watched this little movie:

Indirectly, it fits the dilemma of so much to do so little time and energy. Take out your own time to Breath my friend, then go out and great the world. Remember the mellow methodical turtle won the race while the fast distracted rabbit lost. Love and Light, Nina P.

Good question...and part of an ongoing force of movement to be busy, busier, busiest. We have a two year old and I actually played on the swings yesterday with him. When is the last time you did that? I was about 10. It was great fun and a good injection that I don't need to do 1000 things per day.

No advice from here either 'cause I got more projects lined up than I have fingers and toes. The only way I can find peace anymore is in a good book!

Oh you are not alone my friend! I have not blogged since July 3rd and I have no clue how you do it every freakin day...so there! By the way...I absolutely LOVED your LUCY story!!!!!!! What a hoot she must have been as a mother. I find the time for those once in a while!

I think we should just run away. Pack some essentials in a bandana, tie it to the end of a stick, and set off in search of better lives!

Just kidding..but sometimes you truly do need to get away--even if it's just for 5 mins.

Even though we may have it better than hordes of other people, it's all relative sometimes, ya know? I've often how you gals with jobs kept up with your blogs... I have oodles of admiration for you, because after only 3 days of work, I find myself seriously slipping behind.... ACK!!!1

I agree with Beth though... it shouldn't take a tragedy to slow us down. Hugs to you my friend - try to carve out some time for yourself. It's important that you do so!
