I WANT TO LIVE IN A MOVIE

one long curly strip

So I’m beginning to think that not everyone watches movies over and over again until they can recite complete dialogue like my family does. There are times when we have complete conversations that consist only of quotes from various movies, mixing and matching as we see fit.

Beloved favorites that are repeated often include:

“Kevin’s not here. Kevin’s not here. Kevin’s not here.” (It helps that we have a Kevin in our inner circle.)

“5:45! Five forty-five doesn’t do me any good. Network news is in make-up at 5:45.”

“You don’t want to be in love. You want to be in love in a movie.”

“You’ve got a baby! ….in a bar!”

“So I can kiss you any time I want.”

“You can’t ride two horses with one ass, Sugarbean.”

“I never fully understood that expression but no, I’m not shitting you.”

“Look what you’ve done, you little jerk!”

“Sydney, this is just a dinner. We’re not going to be doing espionage or anything.”

As you can see, we have a plethora of verbal gems from which to choose. So many lines,….so little time.

So now that I’ve digressed almost to the point of where the heck was I………..

Yesterday I posted seven interesting facts that weren’t really about me but instead characters in some of my favorite films. I challenged you to identify yourselves as my soul-mate and name the characters and/or movies.

I’m happy to announce that my new found soul-mate is ……..Otin, the Wizard, himself. One of these days, Otin and I are going to sit ourselves down with some sweet-tea vodka and watch my our favorite flicks together. Right, Otin? I’m sure that Otin is dancing the fiesta dance right this very minute in celebration of my promised undying affection for him. Isn’t that right, Otin?

Otin came through with the answers to:

1. Sleepless in Seattle. (By the way, I really can peel an apple in one long, curly strip too.)

2. Twister.

5. An American President

6. Serendipity

Janie also knew Twister but if she hadn’t Oklahoma would have disowned her as their part-time spokeswoman.

Eileen at Hit40 knew that #3 was Sweet Home Alabama. And poor Dana is worried that maybe I really did blow up a bank…..with a cat. I’m just not sure if she’s worried more about me…the cat….or the bank?

No one knew my all-time favorite #4 was The Family Man.

MrsK didn’t get got #7 by proclaiming that it couldn’t be is You’ve Got Mail. Kimberly also said You’ve Got Mail but I’m not sure if she was only talking about #7.

And dear, sweet Auntie thought that I really did all those things.

Mona, love, you know you can be secure in my adoration of you.

Movie and Pseudo, Don’t make me come up/over there and do an intervention! You ladies need to pour yourself a glass of vino and pop in that video. Just do it!

I had so much fun reading your comments that I thought we’d play again today. Can you name the movies that I’ve quoted above? Can ya? Huh?

Game on!

I bet you wondered how I knew Serendipity? I am a fan of John Cusak, but I LOVE, Kate Beckinsale!!! When is our tea date!? LOL!

I think the first one is Home Alone. But that's all I could recognize. I used to like movies. I really did. I have some favorites that I do know by heart, but these days... not a movie girl (despite blog title).

Home Alone on the first one? And the one with the baby in the bar, was that Sweet Home, Alabama?

I've seen Home Alone enough to know most of the lines. The others only once.

We have all 10 seasons of Friends on DVD and can have whole conversations from any and all episodes.

But please do an intervention on me. And bring Movie.

I recognized a couple of the lines... just not sure which movie. I was tempted to google the lines, but realized that i should just get a grip and not cheat.

You seem to have the same taste in movies as me. I like light funny movies. Romance is also a nice plus. Crude and dirty is always fun too!! (Bad Santa rocks!!)

Don't EVER talk about how bad your memory is.....because it's obviously sharp as a tack, which mine...on the other hand is....sharp as a bowling ball.

I can't remember a line in a movie to save my life. Ugh....now I feel really bad.

My family has many lines also - most from Sandlot, Animal House, and Blazing Saddles. Go figure.

Jason, as himself said...

I can't name a single one. My movie IQ is quite low.

Although I do have a few one-liners from movies and TV of my own.

I love the movies and I don't know the answers.

We recite movie lines at my house too!!!
1. Home Alone
2. American President
3. Sleepless in Seattle
4. Sweet Home Alabama
5. Sweet Home Alabama
6. Sweet Home Alabama
7. Sweet Home Alabama
8. Home Alone
9.

I so don't know the last one. Well, I know I've heard it in a movie but I can't remember which one. It was even recently that I heard it, however that doesn't make it a recent movie. I will watch a movie over and over and over!

I'm guessing you like Sweet Home Alabama?? That is one of MANY that I own, and watch and re-watch!

As much as I love and watch movies, my memory is like Midlife's, "sharp as a bowling ball" when it comes to remembering lines. But I love that you came up with this fun game!

5:45 = American President (which I have watched forty eleven times!
Baby in Bar, Kiss any time, Sugarbean, shitty you, = Sweet Home Alabama.
Sydney = American President.
Sweet Home Alabama & American President are 2 of my favorites. (and Twister & most John Wayne & A Knights Tale & Red October)

I SO love that new picture of you.
Now...what were you saying???

You would "want to live in a movie?" Oh, Honey, you could get cut doing that!!!

We recite movie lines at my house, but I could only identify the lines for Home Along. It makes me feel better that I can't identify the rest of them, because I'm not necessarily a "chick flick" kinda girl and have never seen Amercian President, Sleepless in Seattle, or Sweet Home Alabama.

Now, Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan? Word for word, babe.

No, but I think you should just say those lines whenever you want and out of context. Totally. :)

"Look honey, I have a runner in my pantyhose. Oops! I'm not wearing panty hose! "

I can't even remember watching a movie much less what was said...BUT, I do remember the quote up there.

I'm going to go with: what Linda said...sounds official enough. I got one for you...which movie introduced the term 'sharted'. It cracks me up every time I think about it.

Mrs. K said...

by the way here's the dialogue:

SL: Reuben, I'm in a situation here. We have to leave now.
RF: No. Can we stay a couple more minutes?
SL: Dude, no. This is serious. I just sharted.
RF: I don't know what that means.
SL: I tried to fart and a little shit came out. I just sharted. Now RF: You're the most disgusting person I've ever met in my life.

Now I have no clue and I watch a ton of movies and TV show DVDs and I watch them a lot but I don't recognize any of those. Man, I am ashamed of myself.

Why couldn't you have the standards?

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!

Do you feel lucky punk?

oh i love movie quotes. I haven't had time to watch a lot of movies lately but nothing make me happier than taking a mental health day (on a rainy day) curling up in bed (while eating chinese food) and watching movies all day long.
