BLOGGING IN THE ZONE

Yesterday’s post brought lots of requested opinions and information. It seems as though some of you do go back to read my responses to your comments at your next visit and that’s good enough for me. I will continue to respond in the comment section but will begin to email my response when an email is available. If you haven’t attached an email to your commenting ID, you should consider doing it. I personally love to get a response to my comments on your blogs in an email. I get email on my crackberry and they give me a little lift to my day while I work, shop, travel, etc.

I realized as I was reading your comments that I said that I didn’t pay much attention to info in the sidebar of blogs but that isn’t exactly true. I always check out the sidebar when I visit a new-to-me site. It’s a great way to get to know the blogger. Once I “know” the blogger, I seldom look at it. That extends to my own sidebar which by the way needs a little updating…..especially in the blogroll department. There are many that need to be added and possibly a few that need to be removed. I’ll get to it. I promise…….one of these days.

Thanks to everyone who commented. Many seem to agree on a few things. Here’s what the majority said:

  • Word veri is a pain in the arse.
  • We don’t like comment moderation because some of us (read me) are a little ditsy and will repost a comment when we don’t immediately see it there after publishing. I know there are some who use moderation as a tool to ensure their anonymity. I respect that. But that doesn’t mean I have to like it. We like immediate gratification.
  • Copyrighting is a must if you don’t want to see your words republished under someone else’s name. This really happens? Hard to believe but that’s what you’re telling me. You don’t take someone else’s stuff. Some people need to repeat kindergarten and learn the basics, I guess.
  • Comments! We all love comments. We love to read comments on our comments. There are some blogs where the comment section is almost as entertaining as the blog. I know that has been the case right here in SMBland more than a few times.
  • When time is short, it is agreed that everyone would prefer a comment on their own blog over a response to their comment on yours.

For the record, my choices:

Jif creamy - but what I’m actually eating these days is Smuckers natural because I’m in the damn ZONE.

Vanilla – if it’s ice cream. Chocolate for anything else. Deep, dark chocolate, preferably with red, red wine or beer. (It’s a weird quirk, I know.)

Thelma or Louise? – That was a trick question. You can’t separate them. Thelma & Louse, in the words of Forrest Gump, “go together like peas and carrots.”

Speaking of the damn ZONE……we are surviving. Tonight we had Shrimp Scampi with vegetables and it was delish!

DSC04023 I had good intentions.

DSC04025

I planned to take pictures of every step.

DSC04026

But I was starving and after the first few pics, I could only focus on eating and forgot all about you……………………..SORRY. *sigh*

Please ignore my icky kitchen. I have a whole new kitchen sitting in my dining room just waiting for MHS to find the time for this major project. We are always a work in progress.

Tomorrow I will have an update on our diet and fitness plan. Stay tuned…………………….

Did I read that you get your email on crackberry? Is that like cranberry on crack or is your email on crack or is that really like a blackberry? :)

I spent a good portion of my afternoon reading up on copyrighting a blog. I was amazed that bloggers have found their posts verbatim on other people's blogs. I agree with you SMB, let's send them back to Kindergaten.

You take the best foodie shots.

Your kitchen looks way better than mine.

And D (2?) has a very good tan going on there.

SMB..you do have gorgeous kids!! You stay on the "damned Zone" and you are going to be SO healthy..and slim...and I'll hate you but how can I do that when I want you to be healthy and slim!

Now...what's this about our blogs being ..copied onto someone elses? Why??? I don't get it!

I had to laugh at your daughter sitting on the counter...looks like what mine used to do..now it's the grands! :)

I need to catch up on my visits..so I am off to see what I've missed...I hate missing stuff! Oh! The trip! I just remembered...later then!!

I think your kitchen looks fine. How's the whole Zone thing going?

I don't understand the whole "copy someone else's blog post" thing either, but some people are just not ethical, as I noted yesterday on my blog.

I miss Peter Pan peanut butter - my mother was a devotee - but we can't get it up here.

What's wrong with your kitchen?

Jif Creamy rocks! I don't like peanut butter but this is what my kids tell me so I buy that one.

I have seen my posts lifted verbatim twice now. (those are the ones I know of, who knows what else I missed.)

The weird thing is that once was before my bloggy break and once after (when I was copyrighted!!) And I put my copyright image IMMEDIATELY following my post. What the heck?

I'd love to hear about how the Zone worked for you. How much did you lose? Is it easy to follow?

I'm also confused about the copyright thing. Would love to hear what you're supposed to do.

What spices did you use on the pan of veggies if any, or did you just let the veggies do the talking? Sure looks yummy and easy too.

The food looks yummy, and your kitchen looks fabulous. Daughter is so cute, too.

I am back to counting WW points and training for a big hike. Ack.

I meant to say in the last post, that the thing that helps me is when the blogger puts that button on their header or sidebar that says *subscribe to all comments* so then I don't miss anything. Because really it's all about making it easier for me...

:-)

Is your daughter your personal chef for the summer? If so, I might need to make more kids!! I need a little girl.

Yup...I just got done commenting on yesterday's post and I agree with everything the other bloggers said....that is if what you are saying is true...I never read their comments! I believe you summary though!:) Gotta tell you....I love seeing the word "arse" in print....just love it.

Dang, you had to do this while I was away! Read your older post and only scanned the comments so forgive me if I blatantly repeat other commenters.

I had noticed that a lot of blogs are copyrighted and now I have to read up on how to do it because I sure don't want to see what I've labored over copied and pasted because someone else is just plain lazy or just plain stealing! Scared me on that one!

Like Beth, I can't get the darn email thingie to work with the email program I use so I only comment to comments on my own post. But I also think it's really personal that way and in many cases, the comments are just as entertaining as the posts!

When I want to know what's been commented by all others, I always check the "subscribe by email" thingie at the bottom near the comments box; you can always unsubscribe.

Jif Creamy is my favorite pbutter.
Edy's Double Chocolate Brownie, favorite ice cream.

P.S. Don't like the word verification thing because of time but don't let that stop me from following a blogger I like!

Cool. We must have started blogging about the same time, because I am hitting my 1 year blogaversary tomorrow. I'm still about 20 posts away from 200 but I'm almost there.

I recently posted that I'd be happy to answer any questions people had for me on my 1 year blogaversary and no one responded. Not quite sure what to think about that. Guess I'm not as important as I think I am?? LOL

Anyway, even if I don't comment as often as I'd like to, I do read you regularly and love your stuff. Muah! :)

My daughter had one of her pictures on DeviantArt stolen by some creep in Taiwan. He put her work on cigarette tins and was selling 'em on ebay.

I've also had stories and other various things stolen, and put beneath another's name. Like my bubble tree story and drawing. (sigh)

It is illegal, and I do have rights, but how to pursue someone who does this? Near impossible if they're from another country.

By the way, your blog today was great! Thank you so much for sharing!

When you find out how to copyright, post it so we can all do the same. Dinner looks amazing!

rachaelgking said...

I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY with each and every one of those points. AND I have been thinking I want to do the same thing- emailing back when a comment is available. It would make it so much easier, I think!

Michel said...

I had to stop commenting on the comments in my comment section - it just gets too confusing! So I just email now. F it.

I'm lazy like that.

And YOu're STILL on the zone? is it working? Wait. Don't tell me! That smuckers natural shit is NASTY. Not even worth it. gross. I prefer my peanut butter to be fake and salty.

I'm obviously in a different zone than you!

Your kitchen rocks. Nothing wrong with it. Better than my repainted cabinets! LOL

I'm rather shocked to see so many people say they've seen their blog material elsewhere. I did just recently add the copyright thingie to mine to protect my photos, but I really didn't think anyone would cruise thru blogs looking for stuff to steal?? Like someone mentioned in Pseudo's post re: jealousy vs envy, INCREDULITY sometimes seems to be more common these days.

I am not in the zone, and I unashamedly do not apologize for not being in the zone. I made french breakfast puffs this morning (muffins coated in melted butter, then rolled in cinn/sugar mix).... ummm, boy were they good!!!

Maybe I will decide to venture to the zone when I gain another 10 lbs... LOL

I didn't get around blog land yesterday so I missed that post. But I hate veri. Hate it with a passion! And I never go back and read other comments. Just no time!

Yes, my crackberry is like an extension of my arm. LOL

Pseudo-I would love it if you share your copyrighting info. I still have to do my research. Sorry I missed the shrimp shots. Its was really pretty.
The kitchen really needs to be redone. You just can't see it that well in the pic.

Mona-I'm staying in the DAMN ZONE! LOL

Jan-More on the DAMN ZONE tonite. Can I send you some Peter Pan. We have it here.

BV-I'm stunned. Just awful. Can't believe people would do that. Well............actually, yes I can.

PeachTart-Thanks for stopping by and for the follow. I'll tell you all about the DAMN ZONE (as I know it) in my next post. I'll be happy to share any info I get regarding copyrighting once I get it.

Di-Just salt, pepper, fresh garlic, wine and a little olive oil.

Movie-Yes indeedy, it's all about YOU! LOL Wait! I thought it was about ME!

Hit40 - Teach your boys to cook. Some of the best are men. Ask Beth.

Debbie-If I'm lyin, I'm dyin......Arse: That was for you. *wink*

Jane-Yes, I need to get on this asap too. I say that but I'll probably procrastinate with this just like everything else. "I was gonna" is my middle name.

Mama-Love you too dear and same goes for me.

BethN-That's what I'm wondering, once you have the copyright and someone steals it, then what?

Lisa-Will do.

Lilu-As you can see, I'm still doing both. I think it's fun to see the interaction. Hope you do too.

Michel-Come now, Michel, just try a little taste. It's not that bad......Bwahahaha!

OG-Woman! You are evil! Talkin to me about breakfast puffs when I'm in the DAMN ZONE! LOL

Debbie-Yes, time is the issue at hand. I'm running out of it. I don't know where it goes but it's gone.

I would love to know about the copyrighting, if you would have time or maybe interview psedo about it? Thanks, and I love reading your blog!

Just stumbled on your blog. GREAT POST! Thanks for the info. I'll be back again soon.

California Girl said...

the info you gathered is helpful. I probably won't remove the comment moderation altho' I also think it's a pain in the ass. nice to know what people respond to in positive and negative ways.

Dinner looks good. It helps if someone else cooks with diets like this. Chopping all the veggies gets to be a drag but then, I'm a lazy 'ole broad and freely admit it. Especially when it's just me at home for a meal. Too much bother for just one person. :0)

Smart Mouth Broad said...

WW-I'm going to do some research and maybe Pseudo will share too (right, Pseudo?) I'll let you know what I find.

Joanna-Pleased to make your acquaintance. Please do come again.

CG-I like to gather all the different opinions. It sometimes helps me to see things a bit differently. Learning from each other is what it's all about. Well that and dark chocolate.

Delaney-Hey Grandma! You've got to shop not chop. LOL D1 eats on this all the time and I think it's even easier for one. She doesn't cook much so she does it differently than we are doing.
