POOF! and just like that……………SHE’s GONE

gone now

I use Google Reader to read blogs. I’ve been pretty busy lately and am way behind in my blog reading. Yesterday, I tried to catch up on a few. One of my bloggy friends had eight unread posts in my reader. I always go directly to the site from the reader for those of you who are interested in your numbers. I clicked to be directed to this friend’s site and Blogger informed me the site didn’t exist. I tried it again. There was a trouble-shooting suggestion telling me to check my address for accuracy. I’ve used my reader to go there several times so I knew that wasn’t the problem. I tried a few more times with no luck.

I emailed my bloggy friend and asked if everything was OK because that’s the kind of nosy broad I am I was concerned that she may not even be aware of the problem.

This morning, I received an email telling me she’s done. It’s something she has been thinking about for a long time and she decided to just quit. She’s deleted her blog and she’s happy about it. She assured me that she is fine. But now as far as blogging goes she’s GONE. Done. No more.

Now I’m wondering. Have these thoughts gone through your mind too? Will I click to be directed to your site next and find that you’re gone? I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’ve got a lot on my mind: The economy, world peace, is orange REALLY the new pink? And now THIS!

If you’re leaving, I’m gonna need a heads up. Just sayin.

Some of my blogging friends have done that and I have done it myself. But some people you really connect to, and after a while you will find them back again, Facebook, Twitter, a new blog. Life goes on.

No, I'm still hanging in there as it is new to me. I find it fascinating. And, I know you cleaned up your site, but I just learned about this award thing and if you go to my site, there is one for you.

I do not have plans to go anywhere anytime soon. I don't think that you read my blog anyway, since I just started stalking, um, er, I mean reading yours. Ahem.

Just do me and your other followers a favor, if you plan out ending it all, shutting up shop, blogging no more.....could you give us a heads up, please???

Or, even better, NEVER shut down. Okay? Okay!! lol

Who is it?? I immediately jumped to thistle cause she has been taking her whole vacation for a blog break andI would so miss her. I do already.

I love my blog. Don't see myself quitting anytime soon. When it gets overwhelming to keep up, I just don't.

However, if I do decide to do something else, I will so give you a head up ; -)

I immediately thought of thistle too. Has anyone heard from her? I miss her~!

I love keeping my blog(s). I have always been writing for school, grad school and work, and I never had the appreciation that writing was fun until I started playing in the blogosphere last summer.

And met all you nice people.
:-) Not going anywhere.

I have had someone I thought of as a blogging buddy shut down her humor blog and stay with her more somber site and she seems to have dropped most of us she met through humor sites. Go figure. It is rather depressing when it happens.

Heck, I'm not going anywhere. Now I'm almost done with school for the semester you're going to get sick of reading my crap. I'm digging deep, too. LOL

No way man! I love this!! (a) I feel like I have an audience (even if nobody reads it - I don't KNOW that); and (b) I don't have to write personalized emails to people - because you always end up offending SOMEONE because you forgot or you copy pasted in the text of someone else's email and forgot to change the name - but damnitt...you only have so much you can say!!!

Anyway, longwinded way of saying I'm not leaving. I'm not sure how I made it before without it. I think it might be addicting!

Please don't leave.

Hmmm...that's interesting. Makes you wonder what prompted the departure. I'm on a blogging hiatus, as you know. But I'll be spending the next few days catching up with my bloggy friends and then will dive back in with a post of my own. I can't imagine hanging it up at this point...but you never know...things do have a way of changing.

thyme-I was just shocked. No goodbye, no warning...just gone.

MLJH-Glad to hear you're sticking around. Thanks and I'll be over later to check it out.

MeMe-A lurker! I love you. As I said, I'm behind in my reading but I hope to get around to see everyone soon. Believe me, if I go anywhere, I'll announce it. I'm too much of a blabbermouth to just disappear.

Pseudo-Nope, not Thistle. But I do miss her too. That's me too. I just back off a bit when it becomes too much.

Movie-I know what you mean. I've always enjoyed writing but had never found an outlet that blogging provides. I can't say I'll do it forever but if I left, I would have to find another way to communicate with all my blogging friends.

Delaney-I would miss you guys too much.

Kathy-Woot Woot for summer. Maybe you will twitter with us over summer.

Michel-I couldn't agree more.

Fancy-Nothing like a good mystery to get my busy-body mind working. I could probably do a whole post on the possibilities. LOL That might be fun. She probably entered the witness protection program or was recruited by the CIA or FBI or MIB. LOL

Glad to see you out and about.

Um. I twitter now?? Twitterer.....
I'm under my usual "Bruceaholic" name :)

You are stuck with me! I can't imagine just quiting cold turkey. ;-)

Nope, I'm not going anywhere. I've got goals, SMB. Goals, I tell you. I have to get at least as many peeps in my followers list as Fuck You, Penguin does. Or maybe VodkaMom. It's all part of my master plan.

But it is kind of sad that when you went to that blogger's site, there wasn't even a message that she'd given it up. Just a disappearing act.

My daughter just gave up her blog.. with 3 young children to care for, get to school, feed, run to their activities, cook for, wash clothes.... well, you get the picture. I really don't know how any of the mommy bloggers do it.

BUT, I'm not going anywhere. :-))

I guess if I ever get to the point in which I think every single blog of mine should be the kind that is nominated for an "Award" of some sort...then I'll quit.

As far as blogging goes, I think I'll never run out of something to say, no matter how minute it is.

This is not contagious is it? I mean, since you weren't able to actually access her blog, you didn't get exposed, right? Right?

Like Michel, I think this stuff is addictive but it's also time consuming and fun. I'm seriously thinking of doing another one only concerned about my life while I was abroad. Then I'll REALLY be busy!

OMG i could NEVER do that!!!!!!! i guess i'm so nosy that i would never leave anyone else hangin'. i'd keep my site up for at least two months as a heads-up.

also? love the usual suspects segue. NICE. :)

also? this happened to me not that long ago (ahem, my secondtolast post was me saying, WHERE ARE YOU to a fellow blogger) and i am still sad about it. bc i enjoyed them, felt a KINSHIP with them, and i feel almost.... slighted bc... well...

honestly? if i were to erase myself? i'd feel pretty damn bad if i didn't tell you.

and yo? you better not be a bitch and erase yo'self without tellin' ME. cuz i'd be mad.

just sayin.

love ya. (had to put that in:)

Funny you should say that because this is my last post tonight!...Ha! Gotcha...just kidding...although I have thought about it because it is hard to keep up with sometimes. All I can say is I hope that YOU never leave because you ALWAYS bring a smile to my face. I am writing this while watching a a rerun of one of the Jarassic Park sequels. My God those people got thrown around a lot...but I digress...I understand people doing it. I say, if you need to take a break from it, just do it! Let everyone know you are on hiatus...gone...on holiday and you'll be baaack. What's wrong wtih ...I mean with that? Now see..my fingers seem to spell things wrong a lot and that could be a good reason to sotp...I mean stop blogging! I know people that won't blog because they can't spell. That's why there is Live Writer! Good subject actually.

Great topic.. I just found out right before I read your post that someone I have been following for two years is going to a subscription service that will cost $500.00 a year (stock market blog and analysis on youtube). I wish him well he does a great job. I will also be saying goodbye..
Oh well tomorrow is another day..

If I said goodbye to blogging, I'd have no social life at all. (sad, I know)

I lost a follower today. Now that's a bummer.

Are you hinting for "someone" to leave? I'm talking about me! Too bad. You're stuck with me so get use to it. :)

Reader Wil said...

No I am not leaving dear friend! But I did with my previous blog at EFx2. There was always something going on and once, last year, I noticed that there were about 75 comments, all with the same filthy text. I deleted my blog, all of it. Some of my blogging friends were gone to blogspot and told me that it was nice here, and right they are! Thanks for your visit!

Kathy-Oops. Following now.

Debra-Great! That's the way I like it.

Liar-I'm sure you and your funky chicken will make those goals very soon.

Di-Having raised two children, that is something I completely understand.

Blase-I always have at least one more thing to say. LOL
Thanks for the follow.

Jane-You must have superpowers. I can barely keep up with this one and reading all my favs.

Lo-I'm like you and would never be able to just disappear but I think there was more going on that what appears. The funny thing is that we just never know what is really going on in another's life. Sometimes even our closest friends.

Debbie-Spellcheck will fix that. LOL

Joe-Yikes, From zero to $500! I was only charging 50 cents for my tour. LOL Good luck to him.

Lisa-I hear ya.

MLS-You know better than that. I'm happy to be stuck with you.

Wil-I've never heard of that blog server. I'm glad you switched and that I found you. Or did you find me? LOL

Yeah...I can understand where she's coming from. When I stopped putting art up on DA, I asked for everyone's email and blog addresses so I could stay in touch.

You are such an interesting person, I hope you keep your blog going for a long LONG time. I intend to, that's for sure!

Jan said...

I have had a similar experience lately, but I can't blog about it. If you want, I can tell you about it in an email. (It's not because I'm embarrassed or anything - it's just...personal.)

Anyhoo - I won't just up and quit. Me??? Get real! While I've considered cutting down (HA!), I won't give it up without letting the whole damn blogosphere knowing about it.

I have obligations, you know.

Lori said...

Nope, you are stuck with me too. I don't get online as much these days but I won't give this up because I don't want to lose my connection to people. Life does get crazy sometimes and you just have to take a step back and try to be okay with it.

Smart Mouth Broad said...

Beth-If you knew me in RL, you would think me very dull.

Jan-I'm with you. And expect my email because you know I'm too damn nosy to let that comment go.

Smiles-That's what I would do (and do sometimes) pull back but not quit. But the truth is you never know what you might do in any given situation until you are in it.

God forgive me, yes, I have definitely thought about it a lot. There have been days when I turn the computer and suddenly feel this sense of peace...but then an hour later...and I'm back.
I did have to pull my writings about life due to a vicious attack by someone and that sort of threw me and made me want to run. I was called a racist, told I was a liar and that the things I told about my early life never happened...and on and on. It totally SHOOK me. It still does. I see her a part of her family that visits my blog and I find myself worrying about everything I write. My home was called a "pretty Moat" and on and on.
I guess I am still shook...because at times I still want to give it up. It's hard to relax and enjoy. But then there are people like you, SMB and I stay. I laugh, cry, giggle, shout with absolute hysterical laughter...and I know I'm having fun. Thanks my friend, for adding to my life. I'm here and will let you know if I decide to follow though and take a powder.
I could also die. I am getting old..73 in October and us old folks do have things happen. If that happens...know I love you. :)
