SENSATIONAL SIX

die_six

I’ve been tagged by two bloggers for a six meme. Reader Wil and Jane at Gaston Studio have asked me to list six things that make me happy and tag six bloggers to do the same. If you haven’t already, please check out these fabulous bloggers. Wil’s eye with a camera will delight you with color and beautiful destinations. Jane has led the most amazing life and is one of the most interesting people I’ve ever “met.”

This task shouldn’t be too hard as I’ve recently been smacked upside the head with a reality check and have taken note of my blessings in the process.

My family and friends make me very happy. That’s a given. Instead of listing the obvious big stuff in my life, I’m going to list the little things that make me happy.

In no particular order, I give you:

  1. My weekly beach walks. It’s easy to forget that I live in a sub-tropical paradise when I limit my activities to work, home and errands. I’ve made a conscious effort to appreciate my surroundings at least once a week. (Even when the weather is a little crappy. DSC03753
  2. Practicing random acts of kindness even when the recipient of such acts might question my mental stability. I took a lovely photo of a father and son at the beach yesterday. I then asked the man if I could have his email address so I could share the picture with him. He hesitated (read squirmed as he clutched his son’s hand and tried to find the nearest escape route) and then gave it to me in good faith that I wasn’t some crazy stalker woman. Poor guy. He has no idea. Later when bragging sharing about my kindness, Noleboy accused me of practicing random acts of creepiness. I get no respect. *sigh*
  3. DSC03816My new BFF, Wii Fit says I’m 34 years old. So what if that means I got married at eight and had D1 at twelve. That’s my story and I’m stickin to it.
  4. Rain. It’s been a long time coming. We needed it so badly. I know that it ruined a lot of Memorial Day weekend plans but everything looks fresh and green again. My grass has come back to life.
  5. Summertime with both of our daughters here at home. It’s going to be great.
  6. Iced coffee. with chocolate mint truffle creamer. and whipped cream. with a drizzle of chocolate syrup. and a straw. in a tall glass. by the pool. Guess where I’ll be today.

This was a fun little meme. Now I’m supposed to tag six bloggers to list their six things but you know how I love to change to rules to suit ME. I’m tagging all six of you. Yep, YOU! Take it and run with it. It’s fun.

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! I hope it’s a great one for you. Fun and relaxation. And to my American readers, take the time to stop, reflect and thank our US troops for all they’ve done, all they do and all they will do to protect and serve.

To all those who serve today and those who’ve served in the past, a very heartfelt THANK YOU from Smart Mouth Broad and family

God Bless America.

Loved your list SMB. The iced coffee description makes me want to run to the store for all the ingredients. And so happy your summer is goingto be spent with your daughters at home.

Happy Memorial Day!

Great list!! Loved the iced coffee. Yumm! Great idea to send the guy a pic of him and his son. I've always thought it was sad that the few crazies make it difficult for us to be neighborly with strangers without being seen as a "crazy stalker person." On most Fridays, my treat is to stop by my favorite coffee drive through and get a frozen coffee. I always try to "pay it forward" by paying for the coffee of the person in line behind me. I usually don't know how that turns out but after I'd done that on one Friday, I went into the same drive thru on Monday and the guy in the drive through said, "Oh! You know how you paid for the coffee of the person behind you on Friday? I have to tell you she was SO excited. She had been having a terrible day, and that made her feel much better. She really appreciated it." That feels good. :)

Mmmmmmmmmmm, iced coffee does sound good. My usual iced is cafe americana with a dash of Splenda.

Wish I was there with all of you rain-soaked Floridians. I miss Florida in the spring and summer. And fall and winter . . . I'm sure to be over there in the fall to visit Dad for his birthday. He's in The Villages just north of Orlando.

Sharing-LOL That would have been a great way to get more hits, huh?

Movie-Stop teasing me.

Lisa-He sent a thank you so I guess he doesn't think I'm stalking.

Jane-Wouldn't you know, we were out of mint creamer so I've switched to hazelnut biscotti.

Psuedo-Yay for coffee, Yay for daughters.

Mama-I know, right? There was a time when no one would have thought a thing about it.
Stupid psychos ruin everything. LOL

Liar-I know right where that is and very close to Daddy. Let me know and we will make a date.

Oh, that iced coffee sounds good. Beloved and I've just planted three flats of impatiens in the front garden and are now going to tackle painting the wall in the living room where the book cases are going.

*sigh*

Now THAT'S my kind of post, girlfriend. Picture of the military men was beautiful.

Random acts of "creepiness". Aww, that was mean. I'm VERY proud of you for taking the initiative.

I loved your list! That ice coffee sounds great...do you make it yourself or is there a place you can get something that delish? What a great random act of kindness that was! My friend tells me to do random acts of kindness anonymously sometimes and not tell anyone...that's a hard one for me...who likes to tell "all" to anyone who will listen.:) My random act was leaving four quarters at a car wash for the next guy. Oh God...I just told you! See what I mean?

I loved this post I want to thank Gaston Studio and Wil Reader for tagging you! YOU were so in those five things. I loved it. Or wait..was it six? I cannot even remember from one page to the next now... *sigh*
Anyway..my love and hugs to you!
Mona
ok..it was six!
P.S. I just want to add...I wish from the bottom of my heart that Pat had lived to see the honor that is being given to our young men and women today. He didn't get that after Viet Nam. I..think..I might still be a wee upset. I hope not..but..I still get that feeling and I don't like it.
Thanks so much for honoring them! I love you for that!

Random acts of kindness? I LOVE that! And yes, I realize that is why you are nice to me, but I'll take it! I love the pic of the man and son (does that make me a stalker too?)

You and MHS were on my mind all weekend as I saw biker after biker after biker heading to and from Rolling Thunder this weekend! I prettied up the guest room for you, but sadly none of the bikers I saw was you. :(

Just found you through muddy boots.
Cracked up at random acts of creepiness. It's sad that we have come to viewing anyone suspicious when they try to do something nice.

VERY nice of you to send that photo.

I do random acts of art. I paint or collage little cards and leave them all over, mostly in library books.
I also do random acts of bookness, and leave books I'm done with at places where others will find them.
It's fun without any creepiness, although I have had fun being creepy a few times.

LOVE your writing,
Diane
